Bookshelves of the soul

Peaches Geldof and pals on The Selby today. WOW. Fabulous teen angst reading list.

Check it out - let’s see what we got: Pynchon, Jung, Paglia, Thoreau, Cervantes, Asimov, Lessing, Vonnegut, Coehlo and a healthy dose of self-helpy type numbers.

The Celestine Prophesies? Check.

It’s hilarious and great. Epecially when you contrast this with the interview.

I like to think this is what my boxes of books for Uni were like when I packed to go, before I realised that almost the whole place was made up of Singaporean marketing students, engineering students and a few lesbians.  Hanging with the latter ensured that The Mists of Avalon was summer reading, and I did have a book called Women Who Run With The Wolves. (Hi Mel and Gina!)

Now my bookshelves are far less high-minded and self-concious. Wodehouse, cookbooks, trash, biogs, rudeys, dog training guides and piccy books.

Just off to colour code them now…

oh c’mon ‘Women Who Run…” is indispensible reading in moments of crisis. Recommend you keep a copy by the loo, at least.
